Problem using bleach, need advice

My spouse is always getting mad at me for messing up clothes when I
use bleach. Inevitably, some shirt or pants comes out with a large
bleach spot or two. Not every time I wash with bleach, but often
enough.
I wait until the washer has been running with the clothes for about 5
min, then I use a small amount of bleach (1/4 cup) and pour it either
diluted or undiluted into the bleach (ADD HERE) thing. I then flush
this out several times and flush off any bleach that may have spilled.
((None does but I"m being very careful.))

I do this every time. I never pour bleach directly into the water
with clothes.

One note, while I don't think this is the problem, I do clean the
bathrooms with bleach. But this wouldn't explain everything.

Any suggestions?

whats with the bleach? My laundry is very narrow and short on storage
space. Bought huge bottle of bleach from Costco. So I filled a smaller
empty plastic bleach bottle from the larger one. The smaller bottle fits
nicely between the wall and the dryer. A month later found it leached
through staining the vinyl. Seems no way to remove the stain.
Resorted to using an empty Jack Daniels glass bottle.....it leached the
color of the label around the cap.
