cleaning window fan blades

| At least once a year (@ end/beginning of season), I try to
clean the blades thoroughly. I usually use a damp dishcloth
and push/pull it around the blades. Ir's ok, but not as
clean as I would like.
Any suggestions?

| Try going up on it with a vaccum cleaner.

If possible, I remove the guard from around the blades. Often this just
means removing a few screws. Once that it off, you can use a wet rag with a
good detergent to clean the blades. Just make sure you have unplugged the
fan! Most of the time, the blades have some greasy residue on them that
requires more than a dusting.
