Sounds like you are the one to ask---------I am building my retirement home at the lake on a shoe string, that means I do everything. I am at the flooring stage and am making my own hardwood flooring out of rough tamarack that I get from a mill down the road. It has been seasoned, planed, shaped, and nailed(stapled)in place sanded and now the filling and that is where the question comes. I have used commercial filler for about 600 sq ' but am not to happy with the cost of the filler and not too happy with the shrinkage of the filler. Seems to me there is a formula for making home made filler out of glue and the sanding dust and I have tried it seems to work well but it is too dark. The floors are finished with just clear urethane. Any help or ideas would be great.
