| Anyone here ever utilize 3d drawings for concept design work? Could be
architectural, mechanical etc.
If yes, what percentage of the work & what was the cost? (approx)
If no, what did you use? pencil/paper, ADT, 3DStudio,GMax?
I'm trying to get a feel for what people would utilize prior to starting a
project and what would you pay for a set of drawings? Perhaps NTS but
visulation correct.

Are you an architect? Designer? Guy with AutoCAD and wanting to sell house
plans?
I've used pencil/paper, Sketchup, drawVision, 3DS, AutoCAD and other stuff.
Since using that stuff is incorporated into my design process I don't charge
"extra" for sharing those sketches and images with clients. They get
charged extra if they want a high quality presentation image.

As a hobbiest, I use CadStd Pro to show others what the 2-d design will
look like when built. So far it's just been basic images and ideas, but
it gets the point across. Not everyone has the ability to visualize a 3
dimensional object from a 2-d design or vice versa.

Old computers are getting to be a lost art. Here at Uncreative Labs, we
still enjoy using the old computers. Sometimes we want to see how far a
particular system can go, other times we use a stock system to remind
ourselves of what we once had.

None of the above, just curious as to what tools other people use for
project conceptulization in a 3d environment. And wondering how much
outsourcing is done with respect to that.

| I do my designs with AutoCad and Chief Architect (which automatically gives
a 3D view). My clients see the 3D about 20% of the time (only if I feel
that they need it to visualize a room, etc.), and I do not charge extra for
it. I personally would not outsource this, but would see where others might
be interested. Looks as if you are trying to find a niche and feeling out
the market. Good luck with it.
