Author Low Profile Closet Door Header

I'm remodeling our bedrooms, 8 ft celings. My wife asked if it would be
possible to box in the top portion of the closet and put doors in the
front above the closet door so she can use it for storing comforters
etc. Unfortuently if i put in a wood header I won't have much room
left. It's not a load bearing wall and there is also the wall for the
backs of the closets....

My thinking is that since it's not load bearing and the wall in back of
the closet is providing support, that I could get two pieces of angle
iron and get them boxed and use that for the header. Would this be
sufficent? Two of the closets, in back to back rooms, are 6' wide
interior, with a 3 ' pocket door. The other closest goes the width of
the room, 12.5 feet, most likely with two 3' or 4' bifolds.

Thanks.

Robert
