| I'm on the city council in a small town in cen. Tx. We need to replace
our tractor. John Deere or Kubota? Around 25-30 hp with 4wd. Bid are
very close, ($300) Anyone know which is better? I know this is very
general, but ya'know sales people..... Thanks in advance

Both of those are good brands. I think the dealer is more important
than the brand so choose on that basis. All other things being equal,
I prefer the Kubota. John Deer is an American brand so you can avoid
any criticism in this are by choosing JD.

Though, it's entirely possible that the Kutoba is built in the US. Many
manufacturers find that it's easier and more efficient to build here, rather
than shipping overseas. They also get to take advantage of the higher US
productivity (there's a reason japanese companies use machines - robots
don't take coffee breaks every fifteen minutes or spend all day staring out
the window saying "atsui, desu neh?" to other time wasters).
