Author question about fire rated commercial doors

I have some commercial Hamilton steel doors that are very heavy, and
obviously filled with some type of material.
If I were to cut holes for a peephole fitting, is the fill a granular
material that will pour out?
Thanks, BIll

I 'believe' that will void the product warranty and function of the door.
Class A thru C.

Of the doors we've listed in the past, none had any material that was loose.
My initial guess is that it's either a cementitious or gypsum-based filler
(both of which are heavy.)
Try calling Hamilton at 800-876-6066 (I think this is the correct number).
