Is there any market anymore for salvage lumber?

| I am about to have access to some old houses. (2)
I get the lumber -all of it.
How do I handle the tear down? Kids? Pros? Me and the wife?
Whats the best use of this material?
Sell it as salvage? Re use in new construction?
I'd really appreciate your informed opinions
Thanks!

You start at the top with the roofing and work your way down.
Kids? Pros? Me and the wife?

Used lumber has value and you can look in the classifieds to find ads
for used stuff. Unless you already have a use for the lumber I don't
know why you would bother. Just hire a backhoe to demolish the houses.

| there is a company where i live that "deconstructs" houses. they
charge for demoing a house just like any excavator or whoever does that
sort of thing, except they sell the salvaged materials and the proceeds
fund a non-profit which provides affordable housing. in fact, they can
deconstruct a house and give the owner a tax write off equivalent to
the value of the salvaged materials. salvaged lumber definitely has
value...it sells very well, though at a discount from new, of course.
but be warned...taking apart a house is dirty and dangerous work.

Depends on what's in it for lumber. People will bid on old barns (real
ones). If it's got full 1"/1.25" planks all over, won't be too hard to
find someone to do it for free. Just a std old house? Fire dept may have
an interest for traning purposes.

Whose kids??? Not yours? Sounds like a staging for a lawsuit if someone
gets hurt. Just a comment...

You aren't getting any deal, here.
You have no idea of what you are getting yourself into.
Unless the doors and windows are good, you won't have anything worth much in
the house.
Have you ever torn down a plaster wall ?
There is not a dirtier job in the whole world.
Then you have to shovel up the broken plaster and it is almost as heavy as
concrete.
The 2x4's in the walls will have a million nails in them from the wood lath.
Walk away from this if you can.
It's a poor idea.
