Author 1997 Ontario Building Code?

Does anyone have a copy of the 1997 Ontario Building code that they no
longer need? My husband is taking a course which requires this
version. He does not want to buy this one brand new as there is to be
a 2006 Building code released sometime this spring. If you know of
anyone who might be willing to part with their 1997 version please
contact me.

Thank you

Get a copy from the library for a couple of weeks. I also saw the Ontario
code online somewhere but I can't find the link. I would think that nobody
would admit to saying that they have a "current code" book that they no
longer need. ;-) wink wink

The Ontario Code in the past was a moderately revised and renamed version
of the NBC but I believe in this go around of the edition they will be
adopting the NBC itself with relatively few differences like the other
provinces which previously published their own versions (BC, Alberta,
Quebec). The NRC committees bent over backwards and then some to
accommodate Ontario just so that we have a more uniform building code
across the country. (This I got from some of the committee heads involved).
By the way, even if Ontario publishes a renamed NBC as their own this year,
it will still take them 9-18 months to ratify and adopt it as law so your
1997 version could be applicable for a while yet. On the other side of the
coin, Saskatchewan is adopting the 2005 NBC as is and will be adding a few
minor revisions, adoption by legislation is scheduled for this fall.
