Best elec dept. wire to install ceiling tile Tee-hangers?
|
|
|
| I am going to install ceiling tile Tee-hangers, w/ tiles, etc. to the joists
in my basement. I know that you can buy long bars (~10'?) of straight steel
solid wire at the display. I think there are even 2 thickness options. I
havent worked out the price, and compared it with other options. I am
considering this. Further, I now assume it is stiffer than need be.
Wouldn't a copper wire be better? And could you not buy a wire from the
electrical dept. that would be just as cheap (expensive) and make life
easier. I do not know much about electrical wiring, but say 12/2 romex
(whatever std. house wiring is). You'd just need to remove the outer
casing. What would (you assume correct) be the best wire for
cost/application) in the elec dept. e.g. most wires for cheapest price?
What type of wire, what size, and how to obtain it is your experience?

Don't know if it's Code approved, but one of the cheapest is rebar tie
wire. It's very easy to work with because it is very ductile.
