ATTACH ALUMINUN WINDOW TO STEEL SQUARE COLUMN?

| Hello all - if you could suggest methods or details to attach a window
to a steel column - preferrably without welding - it will be greatly
appreciated. Pleae post reply to forum, thanks.

| ummm... you could weld it. :-)
the only other choice is bolts or screws, its probably most common to bolt a
nailer board to it like a 2x4 the nscrew or nail the window to the nailer.
I'd probably use liquid nails between the nailer & beam also.

| oh.. & btw.. its not possible to weld aluminum to steel

| I used to do this all the time when I built steel building. We use to
make a wood frame to match the window size. it would be hiltied to the
steel beam on the one side and then supported by an upright 2 X 6 or 2
X 8 (whatever would match the wall thickness) We only left about 1/4"
clearance on each side since adding a brick molding is next to
impossible to attach to a steel siding
