Am I the only one who when I see a link with no clue as
to what it is even about, just ignore it completely and
usually delete the post it is in?

There are two reasons for these types of posts:

1. Spam, in that they eventually drive the viewer to a spam site that
tries to sell them something, and/or:

2. Infection sites which install malware on the viewer's computer to
turn it into a spambot.

Of course, I hope it goes without saying, never ever click on a link
in a Usenet post that you don't know for a fact is safe.
