Author Alternatives to forced-air for backup heat in our geothermal home
Ramsay Home Construction Project

Hi,

We are looking to hear from engineers, architects or builders who have
experience in building homes with geothermal heating systems.. We have
started our house and are starting to plan what will provide the
secondary (back-up) heating system for our house. We have talked to one
supplier that is suggesting a specialized gas fireplace system that can
work with our radiant floor system as a back-up heat source.

If you have any advice or suggestions for us as we move forward, we
would love to hear from you. We are especially interested in hearing
from fellow Canadians who would like to share their experiences with
geothermal heating.

If anyone is interested in following a real-life installation of
geothermal heating in a residential home, we have started a new blog -
two newlyweds building a nest in Calgary, Canada. We are trying to
build an environmentally responsible, small foot-print house that
blends into the historical neighbourhood of Ramsay.

We are building our house with integrated-concrete-forms (ICF) and
geothermal heating technology. We want to share our research to help
other people interested in building a sustainable home. Content for our
website is gathered from home building related sites, our own research
and local companies involved in our project.

Please stop by our site and check out our progress at
