I just bought and live in a 1950s ranch style brick home in Alabama. I
would like to find out if the exterior walls are insulated and have
them insulated if not. What could I expect to pay for such a job? The
house is 1500sq.ft.
Thanks

First you will have to remove a few patches on interior finish to see if the
exterior walls do, in fact, have insulation. This will have to be done on
each exterior wall. If you see that none exist then you should contact a
contractor and get a bid on what will have to be done. You will have to
have all, yes all, interior wall finishes be it drywall, plaster or wood
paneling removed to install the new insulation. Once the insulation is
installed new interior finish needs to be replace. More than likely you
should pick drywall which will be cheaper than have plaster replaced.
Paneling is OK. I will have to be done this way since you do have brick
veneer finish on the outside walls.

Hope this helps.
