I have just bought an ivy, which i think looks very nice Hedera Gold
child i also bought it because it was very cheap this time of year. Can

If it is the common ivy, Hedera helix, or even H. colchicum, it will
do BETTER outside. Neither likes too much dry heat, and both are
hardy (the former extremely so). I would plant it now.

And watch it for "reverting" shoots with green leaves, and nip them
out. I suggest very carefully tearing these out rather than cutting
them off. You'll also get better colour in as brightly-lit a position
as you can give it. Like all the species, it'll grow very well in
shade, but the colour will suffer.
