| Hi,
I've been having Buxus problems
Perhaps photos with clarify things.

The plants have been in this condition of some time now, even prior to
the hot spell we've been having in London and the Home Counties. I've
been keeping the soil moist with regular watering and was wondering if
it can be revived. It had not been watered for a while about 2 months
back, hence it reached this condition. Shall I snip of the brown /
golden dead leaves ? Re-potting ? Planting in soil ?
Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks.
Uncle.

Check the roots for obvious signs of root root.
i.e if they fall away, then that's root rot.
At the same time check for how much healthy light coloured
root is left. Taking care at the same not to damage the fine
root hairs unecessarily.
But without checking the roots, as with many such plant problems
you're stumbling around in the dark.
Trim off any badly affected roots, soak in an appropriate
fungicide, and if you've taken off a lot of root - or
its already rotted away, you'll probably need to trim
the top to match the capacity of the remaining root system.
You might also like to try and save some of the trimmings as
cuttings at the same time.
Many plants with extensive root root are unsalvageable.
Apparently many root rot problems in boxes are exacerbated by poor
drainage so any containers would need to be well crocked. And the plant
repotted in fresh compost it goes without saying.
Its probably a wise precaution to keep the old compost
well way from the compost heap as well.

Hi,
Yes go ahead and cut off the affected part. Could it be tom cat spraying,
or a late frost? It looks like it will recover, though. Good luck :-))

I had this last year in many of my newly planted plants.
I found you could pull out the infected parts, root and all, and the plant
would survive.
