I agree that USDA map has its drawbacks, mostly because it is based
only on mimimum winter temperatures. What you may find useful is the
new CANADIAN plant hardiness map (2001). The zones are based on 7
climate variables, rather than just temperature alone. Hopefully with
time the USDA map can be upgraded to include other factors. It might be
something we all could use!
