hi, wish to improve drainage in my lawn to stop the moss. can any one
advise on where to buy a good and preferably inexpensive garden tine (hole
maker) hopefully in the north london or a nearby area. many
thanks. john west

You may find it worth doing a Google Groups search of this group,
using <lawn aerate> or something similar as search terms. I think,
subject to correction by others, the consensus seems to match my
opinion that it's probably a waste of money and effort. Worms do it
better than we can.

The recipe is probably feed, mosskiller, vigorous raking, don't cut
too short, maybe an annual gritty top-dressing.

Real drainage improvement is what farmers do if they have to, and
that's expensive. Because the water's got to go somewhere, you have
to have access to a ditch, too!
