Author OT: Hairnets (a question for the ladies)
Chris Hogg

2007-06-29, 5:25 pm

My elderly mother (87) has very fine long white hair. She has always
worn it 'up', using combs, hairpins and a fine hairnet to keep it in
place. But she can no longer find hairnets in the shops, and she
doesn't get on very well with hairspray. I've looked on the internet
for suppliers of white hairnets, but can only find the coarse nets
worn by people in the food industry or for H&S reasons.

Do any of you good ladies know of a supplier of fine white nylon
hairnets, online or off?

Sorry, I personally don't. However, have you asked in a local hairdresser's?
They might know of a source. Try an old-fashioned one, not a "trendy" one

You probably didn't put in the 'fine mesh' bit, so you were getting the
industrial strength! ;-))

BTDT. "They don't make them any more" was the reply. But Sacha's link
rather contradicts that!

Would these be of any use, or have I got hold of the wrong end of the stick?

(Although they are tinyurls, I give my assurance that they are authentic

I've just had another thought Chris. If you don't have any joy with the link
that Sacha has given you, you could try a dancewear shop. In the days long
since (very long since!) when I did ballet, I used to use a hairnet in
approved fashion!
