Crikey, chaps, little did I think that my first, timid posting on this my
first newsgroup would unleash such a spat! It does seem to have a ritualised
quality to it , what up here in Scotland we call "flyting", but it has taken
me aback. I thought gardeners would be peaceful, equable sorts... I do feel
I must say I welcomed all replies - I am experimenting with camomile in the
dark, as t'were, because I know no-one who grows it, and my gardening
friends think I am quite insane, given the finicky labour entailed. I will
add, at some risk, and pace Sacha, that snoozing on the roof of LaPuce's
shed sounds OK to me, Peace to all, Dave

I'm sure the shed roof looks lovely. But it isn't a lawn to walk on which
is what you seemed to want.

Hehehe! You know, I cannot not think about heights, widths, levels,
paving, bricks, timber, concrete, circulations, focal points, wind
zones, masses, voids, balance, light, dark, climate, costs, functions,
layout, features, maintenance ... when visiting a garden now.
Planting?! What planting?! ;o)

Careful with neck manipulation...

I don't think I would risk it.

NHS and the taxpayer pay for the mistakes of chiropractors.

Truly, I have had my neck 'clicked' more times than I can remember over the
last 25 years - it must run into the hundreds. I went into this with my
present chiropractor very carefully before I started going to him. He has
never encountered or even heard of one single case of stroke owing to
adjustment of the neck. If my neck isn't 'clicked', I become extremely giddy
because it goes out of alignment very easily, reduces the blood flow etc.
etc. and I can suffer from 'cathedral neck' at the drop of a, er, hat! ;-)
It also travels down the spine into the thoracic vertebrae and pulls those
out of alignment and thus on, down to the lumbar vertebrae. I have bony
growth spurs on my neck and lower back and there's nothing to be done about
either, other than chiropractic. Until I found this particular
chiropractor, I was so giddy that I could barely trust myself to walk down a
path in a straight line. It's very embarrassing when you're staggering at
9am! Before this, I was going to a physio/chiropractor and having a deep
manipulation by machine which simply didn't do the job. That lasted for a
good 4 years, I think so I did give it my best shot. I'm *very* grateful for
the warning, Les, as I'm sure others will be if they're contemplating
chiropractic because you've reminded everyone that it's important to be sure
you have a really good, highly qualified and well-practised chiropractor.
Mine does a full assessment before treating you and orders X-rays if you or
he are happier to have them.

I have never used the NHS for anything to do with neck or back or had a
chiropractor make that a requirement.
