When is early Spring?

Hey all,
When do you think it will be safe for me to start pruning back my
Shrubs that are classified as "prune in early Spring". Is this weekend
too early?
I've noticed that a few of my Shrubs are starting to bud - it's
probably due to some of the warm weather.
If it helps, I'm in Guildford, Surrey.
Cheers,
Nick

Traditionally spring doesn't start until 21st March, but I believe the
Met Office classes 1st March as the 1st day of spring.
Personally, I find it easier to prune before you get too much new
growth, but I don't worry too much about the exact timing.
