It's more than an ethics deal, it's a federal offense. A felony, I
believe -- a violation of the equal rights act.

OK here is a related fair housing question, bound to stir the puddin'. It
is understandably wrong according to the feds at fair housing to put a
symbol such as a cross, a fish symbol, or a Star of David on your
advertising or business card, for fear of implying that you favor a
partcular religious group. So why is it OK to put "Se habla espanol" on the
same literature, wouldn't that by definition be shoeing a similar
favoritism?

Not that any of this means a hill of beans, but, I thought it might get a
lively discussion on federal over nvolvmet in real estate going.

Correct, but code of ethics classes is where it's often covered.

Okay so you got my attention.

But what If a property was located in front of gian stadium and a real
estate agent listed that as a geographical fact. Would that violate any
code of ethic or law?

Senior communities tailor their master deed for people of certain age or
older. Their marketing and advertisement reflects that criteria. Is that a
violation of any code of ethics or law?

If a property is located across the street from a school, daycare, bus stop,
bank, etc., and a real estate agent lists that as a geographical fact.
Would that be a violation of any code or ethics or law?

What about placing in your business card fluent in French, Germain, Italian,
Chinese etc. is that a violation of any code of ethics or law?

Giants Stadium is not a place geared towards a particular age, gender,
religion, national origin, or family status (Massachusetts has more, but you
get the point), so it should be OK. People with poor taste in football teams
are not protected.

Senior communities are one of the rare exeptions.

School and/or Daycare may indicate a preference towards persons with
children. It could be looked upon as steering.

Something else. Don't use the term 'walking distance to ...'. It indicates a
preference towards people who can walk.

I don't know. - Never covered it.

I don't believe language proficiency on a business card is covered by any of
the federal anti-discrimination acts. You are not advertising homes in an
ethnic or nationally oriented neighborhood, you are simply advertising that
you speak a language.
