I hope you had a great September. Mine was full of wonderful visitors to the beautiful San Diego area and I really enjoyed catching up with many of my "Zonie" friends who made one last dash to the Pacific to escape the heat.

I had a great time playing in a golf tournament at Morgan’s Run Country Club where my foursome ended up taking second place for non-handicapped players (Nordstrom’s Gift Card!). I also had fun playing a few rounds of golf at High Country Villas – right here where I live.

There were a few gatherings with new and not so new friends. A cocktail party in Carlsbad and a wonderful concert with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. The ‘Girls Behaving Madly’ was a FUNdraiser with great shopping and a goodbye to summer at the Endless Summer FUNdraiser on Shelter Island! Of course, there is always Tuesday night dinner with dear friends each week.

A great weekend in Taos, NM with an AZ pal was relaxing and invigorating with hiking in the snow, watching the leaves turn, visiting art galleries and studios, sightseeing at the Taos, Pueblo and Rio Grande Gorge and enjoying fine New Mexican cuisine and hospitality!

In between, of course, my highlight was getting acquainted with my new granddaughter, Chloe. I was able to baby-sit, giving her parents a little break. Email me if you want pictures!

In real estate, the summer ended up being very slow with many of my clients still watching prices drop before they buy. Since San Diego was on the front of this downturn, we will be at the front of the upswing and the next six months should be interesting (that is a technical real estate term).

The interest rates are remaining very good, so the last two months of the year are looking like a good time to find a home and make an offer. With the inventory getting stagnant and the traditional seasonal holiday slow time, many sellers will want to ‘deal.’ This is especially true for the ‘fixers’ that have been in the inventory over 6 months.

Many of the updated properties that are priced right are selling. Certain neighborhoods in San Diego are ‘holding their own’ and you better be ready to strike, if you find something you like. There are some real gems out there and people have money to buy, but not the motivation. This is different than the early 90’s, when there was no money available. Timing will be critical this time and with all things staying the same (no recession) it will be viewed as a market correction.
