Author the buyer's agent's commission

My question is concerning a situation where
the buyer didn't use a normal agent or broker
to handle making the offer, etc,etc.

Instead the buyer used a friend, perhaps a lawyer.
I am the seller. What happens to the buyers
2 1/2 % commission? Does the lawyer get it?
The buyer himself?
