Built-in Halogen High-voltage spotlights.

| Hi,
Just wondering, what the benefits/downfalls of the high voltage oppose to
low voltage spotlights. (apart from the obvious voltage).

Mains are cheaper to buy and there's no transformer to fit.
In just about every other respect, they're inferior, such as
efficiency, energy cost, relamping cost, beam control and
availability of different beam angles, size and range of
fittings, etc...

At really higher wattages (whatever gets you 5 to 10 amps on your mains
voltage, 1200 or 2400 watts) it probably is no better to go low voltage.
Not something you need at home.
