It is a predecessor of the simpler to manufacture and cheaper version
called a shaded pole induction motor. As such it is used in many small
motors.

Why it is on Keelynet is the amazing thing as:
a) it is not overunity
b)it works

Perhaps they posted it to 'prove' that Tesla 'knew what he was talking
about' and so do they??

Of course, many of Tesla's works were brilliant. But many were also balmy.
Trouble is weeding out which is which.
