How do i build this?
|

| captainabstract@gmail.com 2007-03-15, 8:25 pm |
| Hi My name is Joel, i am a student studying 3d design in Auckland New
Zealand,
Now, i am wanting to build a device (i want it to be quite simple, if
it can be...), i want a small microphone to pick up sounds(eg: voice
or whatever i hold the mic up to), i then want the sound to come out
of a speaker.
Im not even sure what this device would be called.
Any help on what compnents i need and how to construct it would be
much appreciated.
Regards
Joel

Good luck, although NZ has many large 3d structures ;)

Yes someone said a pair of cans with string and yes it will work but you
must carefully select the string and remove the contents of the cans first.

An amplifier perhaps

If you want to do some processing between the mic input and the speaker
then please tell us - spit it out man ?

microphone, now from the sound the mic picks up i want the sound to
come out of a speaker at the same time.
Im unsure of what components i need?? obviousley a powersource is

If you are determined to build it yourself, buy a kit. eg

OK, np, we get lots of strange requests on newsgroups many of which are
trolls that just waste time though sometimes can be entertaining...
Seriously though, you will need an amplifer, you can get cheap amplifiers
at any audio shop that specialises in music or at a s/h shop etc, simple
as that. If you really want, you can build one yourself *but* my advice is
that if you want to concentrate fully on 3D and dont want a steep learning
curve with electronics then just buy a cheap amp from any audio/electronics
shop, you can even go in and test them out.
You havent said what you want it for ?
ps: I hear there are many VK/VL Commodores in NZ, I am looking for a dealer
for my products, someone who knows vehicle electrics and can stock a few
units - especially for the higher end of the market where people are keen
on renovating their classic cars. The VL Turbo Calais is now considered
a classic and I get about one person per week wanting to buy mine !
So any feedback you might have on potential dealers in NZ either on or
off the net (I can phone and use postage) would be most helpful,
cheers

my first sound system was a disassembled record player. it used a couple
tubes and a crystal mic.
my latest sound system totals about 10,000 watts or so depending how big the
venue is, indoor or outdoor, how many monitors are needed, and how much
power is available at the venue.
unfortunately Heathkit a great company that made electronics kits is no
more. check parts express http://www.parts-express.com/ look for Velleman
amplifier kits in the hobbyist section
