Although i heartily agree with ChairmanOfTheBored, I feel his answer was
kinda short and you may not have gotten his full nuance.. Here's the longer
answer:
Web based Usenet, bulletin boards, etc are slow and a real pain to use.
Thus we have usenet newsgroup reader programs that are an order of magnitude
easier to use and allow one to whip through a series of posts in very short
order. Nothing pisses me off (well, almost nothing - slow, oblivious
drivers talking on cell phones in the left lane on I-5 [Olympia WA] drive
me over the edge) more than to have to wait for a page refresh between each
posting. Also,note, that almost invariably the double/triple/quad posts of
the same message within 4-10 minutes you see come from incompetent topahs
that post from google groups.
