Newsgroup postings aren't e-mail. You need to get a real news server
so you can filter the crap.
I use newsproxy and the following line in my nfilter.dat file drops
all his crap, no matter what newsgroup I read.
* drop From:*skyster@gmail.com*
The bottom line of my sig file will give you more information.

Paypal *is* a scam haven.
And dirskyster is a spammer.
And I've already blocked his web site at over 270 clients.

Does eBay do anything about spam adds for what is sold on eBay?

Ebay at one time encouraged sellers to spam on newsgroups, I don't know if
that's still the case.
I finally tried the proxy that Michael has been touting and it works very
well. Filtering out anything posted from GoogleGroups works wonders. 99% of
what comes from there is spam, and the rest is from clueless newbies with
little to contribute.

Paypal is Paypal, and is a legit company. Scammers are scammers, and
they routinely find ways to abuse cash transfer transaction systems.
Scammers that abuse Paypal is a scam, not Paypal itself, and ANY idiot
that gives money to someone through Paypal without it being backed up by
a guarantee is an idiot.

I have yet to see a Google poster that got his account clipped.

>Does eBay do anything about spam adds for what is sold on eBay?
Ebay backs up sales. Be careful to examine the history and start date
of any seller you wish to do business with.
Spam ads on ebay pages get clipped here. If you allow them, you subject
yourself to them.
The assholes that post ebay auctions in Usenet groups not specifically
meant for sales ads should be complained to about at their ISP, as well
as on ebay, and also get on ebay and make complaints about the seller
spamming Usenet with his horseshit auction ads.

Bullshit. They MAY have mentioned the for sale groups of Usenet, but
they never made any suggestion to go against the charters of any normal
group, which includes spam.

Some are long time posters that can't get it through their fucked up
heads that Google is a retarded method for reading news and posting to
Usenet.

I also feel scammed by PayPal. I bought some aluminum section that was
eight feet long and got two four long pieces. PayPal sided with the
vendor. There was no appeal. PayPal merely asserted that the two pieces
were substantially the same as if they were in one piece.
It was not a big sale so I could suffer the loss with little real harm.
But it will certainly make me more reluctant to buy through Ebay and
PayPal.
That said, this was the only sour deal I ever got via the internet out
of about 1 dozen or so purchases.

In many cases Paypal itself is the cause of problems. People have had
losses not related to themselves trying to send money, and Paypal then
took money from these people in amounts greater than original. This
has been going on for years.

I've made thousands of purchases via the internet. I've had 2 or 3 items
that were poorly represented, but I've never been outright screwed.

You should have gone to the provider of your credit card at that point.
You had further recourse that you may not have exhausted.
The thing I do now is ask any questions up front.
I had a friend buy a vid card from China. He had to send them a bank
wire through Western Union. They never sent the card. I told him not to
do it from the start.
Instead of getting mad at ebay, he got mad at me for being right.
The account holder disappeared from ebay afterward, and my friend had
no recourse.

Hi
phil-news-nos...@ipal.net
Maybe Paypal *is* a scam haven, but dirskyster is NOT a spammer.
Anyone who had bought from us knows that.
And We want to know who told you that we are spammers ?
You haven't bought anything from us, then why you abuse us ?
Do you receive money from our competitor?

You are a spammer because you keep posting spam to this newsgroup. You post
your advertisements to non-related discussion threads. I suggest you do a
little googling on spamming and you will see yourself.

dirskyster has been spamming
dirskyster continues to spam
dirskyster is, therefore, a spammer
It's about time other Usenet providers start blocking Google Groups.
Way too much spam from there.

| Install 'News Proxy' and get rid of him, or anything from Google.
Seeing his ad is not the issue. I can ignore it mentally effectively
enough. It's the cost waste I'm concerned with. The real problem at
the moment is Google refusing to shut spammers off from their system.
As long as Google is refusing to do that, it's costing everyone else
money. The purpose of blocking Google is to get the to behave as a
decent member of the community, which means they need to require their
users to do the same. The the dirskyster types would not be stealing
resources to spam the world.

Using 'News Proxy' reduces that waste by only downloading the

| Using 'News Proxy' reduces that waste by only downloading the
| headers and dropping th garbage before it hits your hard drive.
Blocking it at the server means two things: less cost for the server and
no one tempted to click on the link would have it to do so. The end result
is that spam has much less result, and the server costs go down. It is
similar to the spam issue with mail servers. It is still a major cost to
the server to receive, store, and present the spam. That's why what I do
on mail servers (I still run mail servers, but I have not run news servers
for quite a while now) is block the sources of spam at the server. Thus
there is no storage and presentation costs.
I have no interest in a client side solution, for mail or news. I do have
an interest in doing whatever it takes to get spammers disconnected from
the net. Blocking an entire provider that has refused to shut off their
spammers has been effective in the past. Google is huge, so that will be
harder, for sure. But unless Google decides to do it of their own grace,
it needs to be done.
