A few months ago I put an LED bulb in a socket connected to a
motion detector switch and it never went off. Now I put a very low
Watt bulb on it and it does shut off, but not as often. Just now I
walked under the bulb and it seemed dim then when I walked near the
detector, the bulb looked brighter. Ok, it's almost 1am, maybe it's my
head. But I really don't think so. Any thoughts on what's going on?
It's a gfi type motion detector from home depot with a white globe
"detector" and a green flashing indicator.

A GFI type motion detector? New one on me.

I assume you read the instructions? I assume you installed the correct bulb
and it did what???????

Some motion control devices need a burden, the bulb to work correctly.
That burden must be high enough for the electronics to work as designed.
Most motion detectors do not work with CF's or other ballasted lamps. Led's
the current draw would be so small that......

Seems to me your outside the parameters of the design.
