Author ROHS Directive for scientific equipment?

WE manufacture scientific type equipment for Europe, the type of equipment
usually tested under CISPR 11 EMC etc. It is laboratory equipment. Seems to
me it might be exempt from ROHS directive since it is not in this inclusive
list- http://hk.farnell.com/static/en_HK/...hs-faq-page.htm It is
not strictly medical equipment either.

This info appears on a number of pages so I am uncertain as to the origin.
What do others think?

It seems like you might be exempt. Why not contact the DTI in the UK
and raise the question with them? Of course if they say you are not
exempt, you cannot use the excuse that you didn't know better at some
time in the future.

Better yet, why not get the exact original document and read it for
yourself. You can then interpret it and reach your own conclusions.
It should be available in English English. Then, for confirmation of
whatever interpretation you think is correct, go to the DTI if you feel
you have a strong case.

Isn't there an exemption for network gear? Does your equipment have some
kind of networking port? I am not sure whether that would qualify for
the exemption but it might be worth looking into.
