Grounding Standards

| I've been looking around for a set of standards for grounding
telecommunications equipment in a telecom hut. Any ideas where I can find
these ?

Assuming you are in the USA, probably the NEC, whichever version your
local authority having jurisdiction has enacted into law. For much more
detailed and thorough standards, consult the Bell System's standards and
practices documents in your engineering library.
If it is associated with an antenna system, then FCC and FAA regulations
may also apply in the US.

You might want to look into Telcordia's GR-1089 and TR-NWT0000295.
Your grounding must be compliant to NEC if you are in the US, but the RBOCs
require also compliance to NEBS standards, sometimes with their own
additions (e.g. Verizon and SBC).
GR-1089 covers grounding amongst others in a general matter. TR-NWT0000295
deals with isolated grounding structures within telecom installations.
Both standards are expensive!

| what type of telecommunications are you talking about a phone system or
what? I know for a fact the a phone system has to have a 6 gauge ground
hooked directly to the panel supplying power to the phone system no
connections in the ground wire and in conduit...
