Hello

I have another question regarding the 60601 type of standards.(I had a
similar question earlier...)

Is there a fundamental difference between asking a testing body to
perform a test according to IEC-60601-1-2 than perform it according to
EN-60601-1-2?

As far as I understand, the latter would cover only the European
implementation.

What is implicit when I ask a testing body to perform a test according
to IEC 60601-1-2? Would this strictly speaking all national deviations
of the standard (in the regions in which the product is intended for
sale?

Hi Doneirik

The EN and IEC versions are identical, therefore both are acceptable for
Europe as you can test to the IEC version and still claim compliance with
the EN version. Where National deviations exist a CB body will only test for
these if the client asks them to do so, as in some cases it can add
considerable extra cost to do this. Japan are not listed as recognising this
standard in the CB Bulletin.
