He can say "When I said 'Nappy Headed Hoe' I was referring to Sitre

Imus makes a living saying shit like that. It is CBS that should be
shamed for firing him.

I don't like him, nor condone any of his words....but CBS hired him to
make controversy - translated to 'entertainment'.

If Jay Leno said that Al Sharpton was a crack-smoking, pimp-daddy,
cane carring, shiny shoe nigger.... that might be funny (for about a
second of shock value). But it would be grounds for dismissal because
it's way over the edge, not true, and way inappropriate for the
intended audience.

CBS got what they paid for. They don't call them "shock jocks" for
nothing.

And besides - the Rutgers girls team are Nappy Headed - they might
also be "ho's".

Someone said today - that Don Imus also made fun of "Fat" people. Well DUH -
if you listen to Jay Leno at all, I can't even count how many times I've
heard him speak of FAT XXX people. I listened to Don Imus once, as I did to
Howard Stern. I couldn't stand either of them - BUT - they do what they do
and apparently they're well liked to be paid the big bucks and that is also
why radios and tvs were created with dials and volume controls. Be that as
it may - a "Black" man pointed it out well today - it is the likes of Jessie
Jackson and Al Sharpton who create a lot of this crap which these sorts of
incidents bring them out of the closet. Do I agree with Imus' remarks? NO -
but HE didn't invent the word HO - the black culture did. It's ok for them
to call their women Ho's in generalities, but damned it if a white man
should. This Black guy said it well when he said Imus used words the "black"
people created and they themselves should execute self control, as they
themselves bring down the controversy on to them - as depicted in their
music and videos with the rap and hip-hop. From all I've heard to date, no
one really agrees with Imus, but it is the stink as a result that DOES
stink. Sharpton and Jackson would do well to keep their traps shut and let
things get handled as they should and apparently did. The fact that the
station lost MILLIONS - spoke loud enough to do the job.

Just my 2 cents

Greetings,

Where's the national headline: "CBS discriminates against Jews, Gays,
and now Imus"

Imus is, in fact, a victim of racial discrimination. If a black
entertainer had said the same (and many say worse) nothing would have
come of it. Imus insults groups of people as part of his job as a
"shock jock." The idea that members of the nappy-headed-ho class
somehow receive a pass should be a major slap in the face to ever
group he has previously insulted for which he was not censored. This
means that CBS treats the nappy-headed-ho class differently. First
Imus insults Jews... nothing from CBS... then Gays ... nothing from
CBS ... then nappy-headed-ho's and all of a sudden CBS cares! I'm
going to turn off CBS for a while.

Chris Rock - a "black" actor/comedian - was once cracking jokes of non other
than a line full of "pregnant black women" standing waiting for welfare
benefits. Said something to effect of quit spreading your legs and go to
work. Now, if THAT doesn't make the "black" women look like Ho's and so on -
WHAT DOES?

It is a lot of their OWN doing - and they get pissed when someone else does
it. They as the black man said today - MUST accept blame for the damage THEY
inflict on themselves. Watch some of their movies - they call each other
Nigger in them and so on. IF they don't want or like to be called "Nigger",
"Ho", etc; WHY use it between themselves? Calling one of their own that -
isn't any more decent than a white man calling them that OR our own white
women - whores/sluts - just because. THEY need to drop the language too.
THEY need to educate themselves that THEIR slang has caught on - whether
they like it or not.

It isn't ALL of them raising the issue, just those who want to make a name
for themselves.

Whoopee, I don't think - is traveling the middle of the road. I think if it
come to it, she'd be in line with Sharpton and company. SOMEONE WITH A
NAME - or "trying" to be one.

I'm not "condemning" "blacks" - just saying that "many" are pulling this
poor poor pitiful me act when in fact they help perpetuate it. I know a lot
of whites who pull that shit too - when too lazy to work. They act like the
world owes them. GET A CLUE........... The world owes you NOTHING. When it
comes right down to it, aside from seeing it in the news - most blacks and
whites are too busy living their lives and trying to make ends meet - to
give a shit about Sharpton OR Imus. As it should be! They sure don't pay my
bills.

OH MAN, you've got to be kidding me, HE <Limbaugh> is BACK on the air? Last
I heard - he was still off due to his own personal issues. DAMNED! Just when
I thought it was safe to turn the radio back on............ OH HOW
DISGUSTING. A friend of mine used to love listening to him while "we" were
traveling. It was sickening, but I had no control of the dial. That guy
actually made me SICK. What would have been an otherwise pleasant trip with
a friend was more like torture. A "non-smoker" with severe allergies being
subjected to smoke being blown in their face. Pick your poison, that pompous
idiot was like one to me. It wasn't things I could either agree or disagree
with or even compromise, it was more like him talking out his XXX.

So, what is his crock of shit dealing with now? Crying over his being caught
with drug abuse - like some of the ministers (yelling - thou shalt not
commit adultery) caught with their hands in women's panties or little boys
pants OR the till?

What station(s) carry him - so I know NOT to tune them in?

DAMNED - JIM - you just ruined my day! SON OF A GUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really amusing to see how informed and well spoken the guys like this
that blast away at Rush are. LOL
This guy doesn't even know he's on the air with one of the largest

There are few stations here locally - not bad. One has a variety including
talk radio - the others mostly music. The one I listen to most of them all,
is 99% music, and a damned good mix of it to boot. "Welfare" radio as you
call it - isn't so bad - yet. That "Satellite" radio may be nice, but I
think one day the bottom will drop out.
It like all else - is a "Fad".

Yep, just like moving pictures and AC electric power.

I'm not a big Imus fan, I think it is silly to pay $12 a month to listen to
radio, but CBS and their weasel sponsors pissed me off enough that if Imus
started on satellite radio on Monday, I'd probably sign up.

since the advent of streaming audio on the internet and satellite radio
I rarely tune AM or FM radio anymore. I too have tons of choices for
FM/AM radio stations, living in Chicago, but rarely does any of the
current programming entice me to listen. If anything the local
programming makes me want to turn the radio off. With streaming
internet radio and satellite I have choices...don't have that with
terrestrial radio.

I got hooked on satellite radio after taking advantage of sirius'
marketing of free trials on equipment and service. Before actually
listening to the service I was skeptical. I thought the programming
would be very much like the radio that's feed on Comcast here in
Chicago...drivel. Ok for background noise during dinner or a party but
not to actually listen to. After a week of using Sirius I was amazed at
the choices and some of the quality of the programming.

I gladly pay the monthly fee to have 24/7 access to good blues, jazz,
punk, and one I'm kinda shy to say...."standards".

I can agree with you - I've heard the radio and the types of music and so
on - I won't dispute that. "I" personally don't get into streaming audio,
etc. I'm not that into it. I have CDs here I can throw in the computer to
play while I work. When in my truck, I have those stations programmed and if
they start to piss me off with too many commercials, then in goes a CD. No
big deal. Some day - yes, I "may" spring for Satellite, it just won't be any
time soon. I guess you could say - I'm not one to run with the fads to keep
up with the Jones'. The last item I bought in that line - was a GPS system -
a "cheaper" one - to do traveling with. It won't give me turn by turn
analogy, but it will show me where the hell I'm at if I get off course. That
is good enough for me. Were it not for me desiring to start traveling a bit
more, I wouldn't have done that - either.

Imus still couldn't convince me to pay 12 dollars a month of my hard
earned money to pay for something that I don't want for free.

Never enjoyed radio even before satellite. Satellite is the same as AM/
FM, same boring D.J.s, same old burnt out songs, and it isn't
commercial free
like they try to lead people to believe. Satellite isn't the first and
won't be the last service to charge idiots a monthly fee to listen to
the same crappy songs.

Unless you're driving in the middle of nowheres, satellite reception
is WORSE than regular AM/FM.

I buy tapes instead of subscribng to satellite radio. I don't have to
put up with dropouts when a bee flies over my tape deck. I can also
thump what I want and when, and not have to put up with Alanis
Morissette all the time.

for Chicago the traffic station is better than what local Am radio
offers up. It's more accurate than munincipal radio too. I'm not sure
how they do it but it works great.

I disagree with your reception statement. It works fine in Chicago from
Dowtown to anywhere else I might be driving. No more losing am/fm
reception when I'm 70 miles from Downtown.

Nope. Cable TV keeps raises the monthly fees but it's the same reruns
with the latest commercials..

They charge you extra for blocks of channels all which have
commercials.

I know you can get premium channels for 10 dollars a month without
commercials but all they do is run the same 9 movies to death.

Then they charge you a monthly fee to rent a decades-old cable box and
remote.

And then they charge you taxes for this, taxes for that.

People are calling satellite radio a "silly" idea, unless you live way out
in the boondocks of Desert California, Arizona, New Mexico, North Dakota,
South Dakota, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming and other places where there's a
scarcity of quality FM radio. That's a good target market for both DBS
satellite television and radio.

By the way, I'm probably one of the few people that pays for satellite radio
and still watches terrestrial (over-the-air) television. No, I'm not doing
it digitally either. I still get ABC, CBS, Fox Network, CW, MyNetwork and
occasionally NBC and PBS will come in clear from Sacramento. Once in a blue
moon, I pick up ABC from San Francisco.

Sitre also doesn't pay the fifty cents to buy a newspaper, because he can
read quality news at The Onion.com for free. And he won't pay for Internet,
since he can walk down to his local public library and use the Internet for
free (he walks because walking doesn't cost, unlike the cost of a car and
fuel).

I wasn't going to go that far...but it does seem like he's unwilling to
commit to any kind of bill. Sitre seems like the kinda guy who won't pay
for something if he absolutely doesn't have to.

Guess what, people? There's ALWAYS going to be fees and taxes, no matter
what you pay for. Property has tax. Fuel has tax. Food has tax. Hell, in
California, they tack on a tax called CRV when you buy soda!

And your phone line? Ever look at the bill? There are government fees and
charges that, while it's only a handful of change, still adds up. So I
guess Sitre won't be on the Internet for very long once he realises all the
fees he (or his local library) is paying.

How do you figure? I live in-between two metro cities (Sacramento and San
Francisco) and my satellite radio reception is great! Even when I'm in San
Francisco on the hills or bridge, or in Sacramento downtown, the terrestrial
repeaters have me covered, and when I'm in my suburb, the radio reception
comes in crystal-clear.

For someone who has never paid their "hard-earned" twelve bucks a month, you
sure know a lot about the satellite radio reception. Or maybe you're
talking about the reception of the FM transmitter in satellite radio units?
If that's the case, then I kinda agree with you‹it doesn't sound very
digital to me either. But instead of listening to your tapes in your tape
deck (who the hell sells tapes these days except for gas stations, anyway?),
why not buy a tape deck adaptor?

You can find tape deck adaptors bundled in with $20 Discman CD players at
Wally World these days (might as well drop the tapes and move into the 1990s
while we're at it).

Yeah, good point. Fifty dollars is a little excessive, especially since a
box of six donuts is only around $2.50 where I live (on the rare occasion I
indulge in a glazed treat).

So do the math. $2.50 for a box of six donuts...then you figure he spends
about $50 in donuts. That's...one-hundred twenty donuts, if my math is
right.

Just one small correction: Sirius channel "Cosmo" does air commercials, so
Sirius' claim that they carry 100% Commercial-Free music is false. And XM
airs more commercial-free stations than Sirius, despite the fact that XM has
four commercial channels programmed by ClearChannel.

Good point, and one I like to bring up often too. My streaming radio
station would not be successful had it not been for me seeking radio
listening opportunities outside the realm of regional AM and FM
broadcasters. I've heard so much great music on channels like Fred and Hear
Music on XM, The Beat, The Pulse, Radio1 and First Wave over on Sirius.

In metro areas where you're privy to "station swapping", XM and Sirius helps
alleviate frayed nerves.

Satellite radio also provides for up-to-the-minute (or so they say) traffic
and weather for metro regions, news audio simulcasts from BBC, CNN, CNBC,
and Bloomberg, as well as great entertainment stations like Raw Dog on
Sirius, XM Comedy on XM and FOX News on both.

OK - time out - the differences between Sirius and XM have been pointed out.
NOW - being they supposedly "merged" - now what? Will they keep them the
same or will one type of service dominate the other? That may change some
minds!
